About the Project
With the rise of digital post production tools, a new way of appreciating art was born. With it, the practice of photomontage increased, bringing a new generation of photographers with a particular perspective on the world and different ideas, concepts and goals. The surface that SEDUCES is an interactive art proposal, where photographic portraits, that have been through arduous alterations, come alive when they’re being looked at; showing that the materiality of the body can be transformed into a virtual malleable morphology. According to Francois Soulages, the Body in photography is an element with great capacity for impact, depending on its meaning, which is based on the culture and the historic and social context that surrounds it. The body is transformed into a strong mean of communication through the use of planned images that rely on symbology, representations or images that are part of a society’s day-to-day. The body’s image transformation arises from the human’s need to create, and to balance its individual interest and its coexistence with society. With the arrival of photo editing software, different styles appeared, offering a greater capacity of manipulation of images. This new software provides a digital answer to the human’s need to stand out, to be unique and to be equally accepted in a community that is driven by images, thanks to a virtual world.
